Which linux will best suite, if I want to learn kernel compilation for first time?

I need to compile kernel in order to start practising device driver programming.

As for which distro, you could use any linux distro for this purpose but I would guess something like Fedora or Red Hat would be best suited. Most of the other major distros like Ubuntu (debian based) and opensuse seem to be aimed at the desktop or server market.
